Sammy West, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has been reportedly remanded in Keffi Prison following an order by a Dutse Magistrate Court.
According to Naija News, Sammy was taken into custody on Thursday and has allegedly been held without access to legal representation.
His brother, Sweezy, raised alarm on Instagram, claiming that the magistrate handling the case “suddenly disappeared,” which has stalled efforts to secure Sammy’s bail.
Sweezy also questioned the grounds for Sammy’s detention, stating that his brother was denied the right to contact his lawyers after being arrested.
He wrote, “He is currently at Keffi Prison. The Dutse magistrate has suddenly disappeared. Ned, you can pay everybody, but you cannot pay for integrity. Sammy is currently in prison.”
In another post, he accused billionaire politician Senator Ned Nwoko of being behind the ordeal, saying, “Everyone please help me ask Ned what Sammy’s offense is. My lawyers were on their way, but I wasn’t given any chance to call anyone. The judge said he should remain in custody until bail is filed. Bail has been filed, yet the magistrate has disappeared. You want him to test the prison? Ned, you can pay everybody, but you can’t pay for integrity. You no fit big pass God.”
It will be recalled that Sammy West was arrested in Lagos on Monday following a complaint reportedly filed by Senator Ned Nwoko. He was later transferred from Lagos to Abuja before being remanded in Keffi Prison.
