Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has embarked on a bold Guinness World Record attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
Engineers specially built the record-breaking pot, measuring six meters wide and 1.3 meters deep. Baci aims to cook 250 bags of rice, weighing about 5,278 kilograms, enough to feed thousands of people.
More than 20,000 people registered to attend the festival, including Gen Zs, millennials, and food enthusiasts. Celebrities and influencers such as Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Folagade Banks, and Veekee James also joined the crowd to cheer her on.
Before firing up the giant pot, Baci held a touching prayer session with her mother. The emotional scene drew cheers from attendees, many of whom praised her mother for being a strong pillar in her journey.
Baci personally scrubbed and sanitized the giant pot with branded detergent and mopsticks. She assured the audience that the jollof rice would be both “amazing and hygienic.”
The event was broadcast live across social media platforms, allowing fans worldwide to witness this extraordinary feat. It not only showcased Baci’s culinary expertise but also reflected a deep sense of Nigerian pride.
This challenge comes after Baci’s 2023 Guinness World Record win for the longest cooking marathon, a feat that placed her among Nigeria’s most celebrated chefs.
