The Fidelity Bank Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has sworn in a new Chairman, Mr. Audifax Onuoha. The event took place during the Chapter’s 4th Investiture and Patron Conferment Ceremony at Fidelity Bank Headquarters, Lagos.
The ceremony also marked the formal inauguration of the new Executive Committee for the 2025–2027 term.
A Vision for Growth and Professional Excellence
Mr. Onuoha, who serves as the Group Head of Compliance Risk Management at Fidelity Bank Plc, took over from Mr. Victor Abejegah, the Bank’s Chief Financial Officer.
In his remarks, Onuoha pledged to focus on continuous learning and technical development for members.
“We will invest in building knowledge and skills that reflect today’s fast-changing financial landscape,” he stated.
He also promised to strengthen the long-standing partnership between ICAN and Fidelity Bank.
“Our goal is to deepen this synergy and attract more Chartered Accountants into our Chapter,” he added.
Delivering the opening address, Mr. Jude Monye, Regional Bank Head–Ikeja, urged the new leadership to prioritize professional growth.
“Capacity building is now a necessity, not a choice,” he said. “Let your tenure be defined by empowerment, resilience, and relevance.”
Mr. Monye praised the Chapter’s progress, attributing it to the strong support of Fidelity Bank’s leadership, especially the Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe.
“This Chapter’s success shows how much the Bank values professional development,” he noted.
Outgoing Chairman Highlights Achievements
Mr. Victor Abejegah, the immediate past Chairman, reflected on his tenure. He highlighted several key achievements, including:
Entrepreneurship training in fish, snail, and poultry farming
Export processing workshops
Member welfare and insurance support for bereaved families
Stanley Amuchie Honoured as Chapter Patron
A major highlight of the event was the conferment of Patron status on Mr. Stanley Amuchie. He serves as Executive Director/Chief Operations and Information Officer at Fidelity Bank.
The honour recognizes his over 25 years of excellence in banking.
“This is more than an award,” Amuchie said. “It’s a call to serve as a mentor and bridge-builder for both ICAN and Fidelity.”
A New Era Begins
To close the event, ICAN’s 61st President, Mallam Haruna Yahaya, formally swore in the new Executive Committee. The ceremony marked the beginning of a fresh chapter of leadership and innovation within the ICAN Fidelity Bank Chapter.
