Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially received her second Guinness World Record plaque, celebrating her achievement of cooking the largest pot of jollof rice in the world.
Verified by Guinness World Records, Baci prepared a staggering 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a massive picnic held in Lagos last September.
This milestone comes just over a year after Baci gained global attention in May 2023 for completing a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon, earning her first Guinness World Record.
At 29, she has become Nigeria’s first chef to hold two Guinness World Records, solidifying her position as the country’s most decorated culinary talent.
Sharing her latest accomplishment on Instagram, Baci reflected on her journey, writing: “Two records. Two plaques. One tale of history, faith, and fire. We made history for Nigeria twice.”
She added that the achievement underscores Nigeria’s creativity and culinary influence on the global stage, while encouraging her followers to trust in their purpose, citing Isaiah 61:7 as inspiration for receiving “a double portion instead of shame.”
The record-breaking jollof rice event drew over 20,000 attendees, including influencers and celebrities. All servings were distributed to participants and charitable organizations, in line with Guinness verification rules.
With this recognition, Hilda Baci’s reputation as a cultural icon and ambassador of Nigerian cuisine continues to grow.
