In its ongoing drive to support education and community development, Fidelity Bank Plc has donated academic and relief materials to Government Junior Secondary School, Elekahia, Port Harcourt. The donation was led by newly inducted employees from the Suncrest Inductee Class under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP).

The FHHP allows staff members to identify community needs and raise funds for them. Fidelity Bank matches their contribution to execute these projects across Nigeria.

At the donation event, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand and Communications, highlighted the reason behind the bank’s choice.

“We chose a public school because we understand the challenges many students face. Our goal is to support their learning and inspire hope,” he said.

He emphasized that Fidelity Bank has supported education-focused projects nationwide for over 15 years. He also noted that new employees are encouraged to contribute from their first weeks in the bank.

“We believe in grooming responsible leaders. Investing in today’s students means investing in Nigeria’s future,” he added.

Impact on School and Students

Dr. Ekeh Florence, Principal of Government Junior Secondary School Elekahia, thanked the bank for the donation. She noted that no other corporate organization had previously extended such support to the school.

“We appreciate the items, books, pens, footwear, sanitary pads, socks, and snacks. They will boost the students’ morale and readiness to learn,” she said.

The students expressed excitement and gratitude. Many promised to use the materials wisely and focus more on their studies.

Fidelity Bank remains one of Nigeria’s most respected financial institutions, serving over 9.1 million customers through 255 branches and digital platforms. Its UK arm, FidBank UK Limited, further extends its reach.

The bank has earned multiple accolades in 2024 alone, including:

Excellence in Digital Transformation & MSME Banking (BusinessDay BAFI Awards)

Most Innovative Mobile Banking App (Global Business Outlook)

Most Innovative Investment Banking Service Provider (Global Brands Magazine)

Best Bank for SMEs in Nigeria (Euromoney Awards for Excellence)

Export Financing Bank of the Year (BusinessDay BAFI Awards)

Through initiatives like FHHP, Fidelity Bank continues to empower communities and strengthen public education in Nigeria.
