The National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kamaldeen Ajibade, has warned that unresolved internal crises could cost the opposition victory in the 2027 presidential election.

Ajibade spoke at the PDP National Restoration Movement Summit in Abuja, where members discussed reconciliation and the future of the party.

He stressed that the PDP must present a united front to be a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“A fractured PDP cannot heal a fractured nation. We must restore internal harmony and strengthen democracy if Nigerians are to trust us,” Ajibade said.

He noted that disputes, if ignored, could resurface before 2027 and weaken the party’s ability to challenge the APC.

Ajibade reminded members of the PDP’s achievements under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, including reforms in telecommunications, banking, and pensions.

“During our time in power, Nigeria stabilised democracy and attracted investment. These gains must not be lost to infighting,” he added.

He urged members to put party unity above selfish ambition.

“A house divided cannot stand. A divided PDP cannot win elections or save Nigeria,” Ajibade warned.

He stressed that true unity demands sacrifice.

“Ambition is not wrong, but when it threatens the survival of the party we built together, it becomes destructive,” he said.
