President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated candidates who emerged victorious in Saturday’s by-elections across 16 constituencies in 12 states. Moreover, he praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a peaceful and credible exercise.
According to INEC’s official results, the All Progressives Congress (APC) won 12 constituencies. Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) claimed two seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) secured one seat each. Consequently, the APC maintained its stronghold in key regions.
In a Sunday statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended INEC for its efficiency. Furthermore, he stressed that the polls were largely free of violence and irregularities.
The President also extended congratulations to the new APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda. Notably, he described the party’s success as an emphatic first victory under Yilwatda’s leadership. In addition, he highlighted the importance of unity among APC governors and stakeholders.
“Chairman Yilwatda has already shown strong leadership capacity. This victory demonstrates what is possible when credible candidates are presented and party leaders work together,” Tinubu remarked.
Renewed Hope Agenda on Track
The President further expressed gratitude to party members and voters who supported APC candidates. Therefore, he assured Nigerians that his Renewed Hope agenda remains focused on progress and development.
“To all APC faithful and the electorate, I thank you for the trust placed in our party. Importantly, the Renewed Hope plan is not just a slogan. Instead, it represents a firm commitment to a secure, prosperous Nigeria. Finally, by God’s grace, we shall achieve it,” he affirmed.
