The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday declared that politics has officially commenced, saying the timing was right for political mobilisation ahead of future elections.
Naija News reports Wike made the remark in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, during the inauguration of Senatorial and Local Government Area coordinators of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
Addressing supporters at the event, the former Rivers State governor said the emergence of the Renewed Hope structure signalled the beginning of active political engagement in the state.
Wike said, “Let me thank our leaders here, the coordinators of the local government level, and the electoral districts, and to the state, to the national assembly, to the state assembly, to the elders council, for support, support is not by mouth.
“You have shown commitment, you don’t have your governor with you, yet you say you are supporting Mr President, and you will do everything humanly possible to return Mr President as special grace in 2027.
“What have you done? You have managed yourselves with the little resources you have had.
“You have gone to contribute for Mr President to succeed. And I do know that wherever Mr President is today, he’s watching your program to know those who are really committed to the New Hope Ambassadors.
“You got the vehicles there. You don’t need to see some Nigerian Naira. You don’t need it. All you need is commitment and you have shown it. What you have done today, let me remind you, will bring a lot of envy, will bring a lot of hatred, don’t mind her. You are committed and continue to support Mr. President.
“Remember, I told you when we came for Thanksgiving, I did say to you, by January, we start to play politics. Now the time has come, and we have started the politics.”
