President Bola Tinubu has approved fresh appointments into key federal agencies, naming a new chairman for the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and nominating seven commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC).

The appointments were made public on Monday through a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The announcement outlines a series of strategic placements aimed at strengthening governance structures across critical institutions.

According to the statement, former senator, Ibrahim Ida, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission.

The presidency highlighted his background in finance and public administration as a strong advantage for the role.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Sen. Dr Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission and nominated seven people to fill vacant commissioner positions at the National Population Commission.

“Ida holds an MSc in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan and an LLB from the University of Abuja,” the statement said.

Ida previously represented Katsina Central in the Senate after his election in 2017. Before then, he served as Commissioner of Finance in Katsina State.

He also worked as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service, where he gained years of administrative experience.

In the same development, the President forwarded the names of seven nominees to fill existing vacancies at the National Population Commission. Their appointments are subject to confirmation by the National Assembly.

Those nominated include Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi from Ekiti State, Nasiru Mu’azu from Zamfara State, Usman Abubakar Tuggar from Bauchi State, Dr Isaka Alada Yahaya from Kwara State, Prof Sadiq Isah Radda from Katsina State, Suleiman Umar from Jigawa State, and Hon. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo from Sokoto State.

The presidency explained that the nominations are part of efforts to strengthen the commission by complementing the work of the current federal commissioners already in office.

In a related move, Tinubu also appointed Dr Yusuf Mohammed from Kano State as Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo, further extending the list of new placements across federal institutions.

Additionally, Bala Bello has been confirmed as Special Adviser to the President on Political Economy. Bello, an indigene of Kebbi State, holds a degree in Accounting as well as a Master of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Before this appointment, he served as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He also worked as Executive Director (Corporate Services) at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank between 2017 and 2022.

The presidency expressed confidence in the ability of the newly appointed officials to deliver on their responsibilities and support the administration’s policy direction.
