Sterling Bank Unveils ₦1 Million Monthly Support for Nigerians

Sterling Bank, one of Nigeria’s leading commercial banks, has introduced AlwaysOn, a new feature on its OneBank platform. The initiative offers eligible Nigerians up to ₦1 million in monthly support, even when their balances are low.

Launched on Workers’ Day 2025, AlwaysOn aims to eliminate barriers to financial freedom. It empowers users to act confidently during uncertain times.

AlwaysOn is invitation-only. It’s available to customers who maintain an active OneBank account over time. The feature offers instant advances for bill payments or urgent needs—without delays or the stress of traditional credit systems.

“This isn’t just about providing funds—it’s about restoring dignity,” said Abubakar Suleiman, CEO of Sterling Bank. “We are building a financial ecosystem for Nigerians with bold dreams and grit.”

The bank emphasized that AlwaysOn is more than a product. It reflects a shift in how Sterling supports its customers.

AlwaysOn follows the bank’s Zero Transfer Fees campaign, launched in April, which saved Nigerians ₦13 billion in charges. It also expands on Sterling’s Free Bus Ride initiative, which supported commuters during tough economic conditions.

Sterling’s bold actions reflect its adoption of SeaBaas, Nigeria’s first indigenous core banking platform. This technology allows the bank to deliver faster, more responsive services to its customers.

“We’re not watching from the sidelines,” said Obinna Ukachukwu, Growth Executive for Retail and Consumer Banking. “We’re on the pitch with Nigerians, removing fees and now backing them with access to funds.”

Public figures and financial analysts have praised the move, calling it a bold step toward redefining corporate responsibility in banking.

Nigerians can join the AlwaysOn waitlist later this month. Those who qualify will have access to up to ₦1 million monthly in relief advances.
