Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged residents to remain calm and place their trust in God as his administration works to preserve peace and stability in the state.

The governor spoke on Sunday at a special interdenominational church service marking the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Port Harcourt.

Fubara said his calm disposition draws from his faith in God, which gives him strength and confidence. He stressed that there is no cause for panic when leadership is anchored on divine authority.

“I know what I have. I know I have what is supreme, and that is God. So I want everyone to relax. What matters most is peace for this state, and we will achieve it in God’s name,” he said.

The governor assured residents that his administration remains focused on entrenching lasting peace across Rivers State through faith-driven and responsible leadership.

In her remarks, Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu reflected on the sermon’s message, reminding worshippers that people are ultimately judged by the impact they make in their lifetime.

She honoured fallen heroes and heroines, as well as veterans in attendance, describing their sacrifices as priceless to the nation. Odu also appealed for continued prayers for the Fubara-led administration, noting that prayers have sustained the government so far.

The sermon, titled “Only Remembered by What We Have Done,” was delivered by the Archbishop of the Niger Delta Province and Bishop of the Ikwerre Diocese, Most Reverend Blessing Enyindah. The message was drawn from Judges 5:1–10.

The archbishop praised Governor Fubara for his consistent support for the Armed Forces and urged leaders and citizens to build legacies rooted in peace, love, and service to God and humanity.

He added that those who live justly and use their positions and resources to uplift others and support God’s work will be blessed, challenging the congregation to reflect on how they wish to be remembered.

The service featured intercessory prayers for the Armed Forces of Nigeria, veterans, families of fallen heroes, and prayers for wisdom for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Fubara, the Rivers State Executive Council, and the nation.
