Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is effectively “dead and buried”.
Ahmad made this claim while reacting to the official unveiling of new members for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Wednesday.
He stated that while PDP governors have been defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), many of the party’s prominent leaders have now aligned with the ADC.
Writing on X, Ahmad said: “Honestly, the PDP, once the largest party in Africa, is now laid to rest. Their governors are trooping into our party, while their key leaders have pitched their tent with the ADC.”
Notable figures now in the ADC include former Senate President David Mark; former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola; and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Others present at the unveiling were former APC National Chairman John Oyegun; former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami; former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung; Dino Melaye; Dele Momodu; Senator Gabriel Suswam; Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha; and former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd).
