Omokri: Peter Obi Should Keep Divisive Behavior Within ADC Amid Power Grid Collapse

Social commentator Reno Omokri has advised former presidential candidate Peter Obi to confine his divisive actions to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Omokri’s remarks came in response to Obi’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu over the recent national grid collapse. Obi had claimed Tinubu failed to fulfill his promise of reliable electricity and urged him to stay in Nigeria to address the country’s challenges instead of traveling abroad.

Reacting, Omokri pointed out that power outages are a global issue. He cited the United States, which has experienced multiple major grid failures affecting millions of people.

In a Facebook post, Omokri wrote:

“Right now, the United States is facing blackouts across several states as its power grid nears collapse. These incidents happen everywhere, not just in Nigeria. It is disappointing that Peter Obi, who falsely claimed last year that Tanzania had solved its power problems, is once again undermining Nigeria over a recent grid collapse.

If Obi truly had solutions, why didn’t he build a single Independent Power Project in Anambra during his eight-year governorship, unlike President Tinubu in Lagos?

Nigeria is making progress in the power sector. We don’t need someone who spent eight years as governor without building a single school—nursery, primary, secondary, or university—amplifying setbacks.

Under Tinubu, Nigeria achieved record-breaking electricity generation: a peak of 5,801.84MW and a maximum daily output of 128,370.75MWh, the highest ever in the nation’s history.

Peter Obi should focus on more meaningful pursuits instead of waiting for bad news to exaggerate it. He should also limit his divisive tendencies to the ADC, whose unity he disrupted shortly after joining, as noted by party spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi.”
