Ghanaian actor and model Mawuli Gavor has opened up on the bold decision that led him to leave his corporate career at KPMG for a life in entertainment.
In a recent chat on the Blackvolta Podcast, Gavor explained that he once tried to balance his accounting job with early morning modelling and photoshoots. At the time, he earned only 770 cedis monthly, while juggling both careers became increasingly difficult.
A Turning Point in His Career
The breakthrough moment came when a brand offered him the equivalent of his annual salary in a single payment. That deal made him realize the limits of a 9-to-5 job compared to the opportunities available in the creative industry.
According to him, the experience changed his outlook and gave him the courage to quit his corporate role.
Choosing Freedom Over Routine
Gavor stressed that his decision was not driven by money alone but also by the desire for time and freedom.
“If somebody gave you your one-year salary in one day, not even in one month, one day… it becomes difficult to ever go back to a regular 9-5,” he said.
He added that working in the creative economy allowed him to maximize both income potential and personal time, which shaped his choice to focus fully on acting and entertainment projects.
