As part of its drive to combat hunger and support underserved communities, Fidelity Bank Plc has distributed hundreds of food packs to residents of Ado-Ekiti through its Fidelity Food Bank initiative.
The Fidelity Food Bank is a key component of the bank’s nationwide CSR efforts. Since its launch in April 2023, it has delivered over 250,000 food packs to beneficiaries across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. The initiative aims to ease economic hardship, especially for low-income households.
During the distribution event in Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, highlighted the importance of the program.
“Fidelity Food Bank is our response to the growing hunger levels in Nigeria. This proactive CSR effort has impacted more than 300 communities nationwide. By reaching Ado-Ekiti, we are expanding our commitment to vulnerable populations.”
He emphasized that the bank remains focused on long-term solutions. Accordingly, the initiative continues to reflect Fidelity Bank’s dedication to addressing hunger and supporting nationwide development goals.
Stakeholders Applaud the Initiative
The effort drew praise from local leaders and beneficiaries. Reverend Father Benedict Bimbola Joseph, Cathedral Administrator at Saint Patrick Catholic Cathedral, described the initiative as timely and impactful.
“Fidelity Bank has brought real relief to our people. This is the first effort of this kind in our community, and it sets a strong example for other corporate organizations. Even the smallest contribution can make a huge difference in times like these.”
Similarly, Reverend Father Michael Domingo, a partner in the programme, commended the bank’s leadership:
“The bank has shown compassion and foresight by actively supporting efforts to reduce poverty. At a time when hunger is a pressing issue, this gesture is both meaningful and appreciated.”
Ongoing National Impact
Beyond Ado-Ekiti, the Fidelity Food Bank continues to serve communities in need. Recently, the bank provided relief materials to over 1,500 flood victims in Mokwa, Niger State, and extended aid to more than 2,000 displaced persons from the Yelwata attacks, now sheltering in Makurdi, Benue State. These interventions underscore Fidelity’s broader mission to improve health, welfare, and food security.
With a customer base exceeding 9.1 million, Fidelity Bank Plc operates through 255 business offices and digital channels, as well as its international subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited.
