Fidelity Bank Plc has made a significant impact in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, with its recent food pack distribution aimed at alleviating hunger and supporting underserved communities.

A Step Towards Fighting Hunger in Nigeria

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, the bank launched the Fidelity Food Bank initiative, which saw the distribution of essential food items across seven communities in the Mabushi district.

During the event, Fidelity Bank’s Executive Director for the North, Mr. Sufiyanu Garba, highlighted the bank’s ongoing commitment to community welfare, emphasizing its alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 2, the global initiative to eradicate hunger.

“This initiative reflects our core responsibility to assist underserved communities and play a role in the fight against hunger in Nigeria,” Garba said. “While we cannot solve every issue, our efforts are making a tangible difference, as evidenced by the warm reception and feedback from those we help.”

Empowering Vulnerable Communities

The bank’s CSR strategy places significant focus on social welfare, particularly through its food relief efforts aimed at helping vulnerable populations, including women and children. The Fidelity Food Bank is a key pillar of this strategy, providing crucial support to communities across Nigeria.

Mr. Hassan Danagna, District Head of Mabushi, praised Fidelity Bank for its timely and generous contribution, noting its impact on vulnerable families, particularly as the community prepares for the upcoming Ramadan.

“Fidelity Bank’s support is invaluable to us, and we are truly grateful for their initiative,” said Danagna. “This assistance comes at a critical time, as many families are facing significant economic challenges.”

One beneficiary, Mr. Mukhtar Mohamed, also shared his appreciation for the food distribution, acknowledging its positive effect on his household during difficult times.

Fidelity Bank is one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, serving over 9.1 million customers across 251 business offices and digital banking channels. The bank continues to receive numerous accolades, including the 2024 Excellence in Digital Transformation & MSME Banking Award and the Best Bank for SMEs in Nigeria by the Euromoney Awards for Excellence.

Through initiatives like the Fidelity Food Bank, the bank remains a strong advocate for community development and sustainable social change.
