Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has criticized activist Deji Adeyanju for his repeated attacks on Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Fayose urged Adeyanju to clarify his alleged support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) instead of using Obi’s name for political relevance.
Adeyanju’s Allegations Against Obi
Naija News reports that Adeyanju has labeled Obi a “fraud,” claiming he possesses evidence to challenge the former Anambra governor’s credibility. Adeyanju has also accused Obi of being a “manipulator and religious bigot,” remarks that have triggered backlash from Obi’s supporters. Many allege that the APC government may be behind Adeyanju’s attacks.
Following these comments, Obi has taken legal action, demanding that Adeyanju provide proof of his allegations in court.
Fayose Challenges Adeyanju’s Motives
In a video message delivered partly in Pidgin English, Isaac Fayose called on Adeyanju to openly declare his political alignment rather than exploiting Obi’s name for attention. He suggested that Adeyanju is following the example of former presidential aide Reno Omokri, who gained political prominence by criticizing Obi before joining the Tinubu administration.
On social media, Fayose stated:
“Deji Adeyanju wants to join APC, yet he cannot openly declare his support for Tinubu. Instead, he uses Obi’s name to gain attention, just like Reno Omokri did. Adeyanju should stop using Obi to score cheap points. If you want to join APC, do it openly. Leave Obi alone; he has done nothing against you.”
Fayose added that Adeyanju’s approach reflects political opportunism and urged him to be transparent about his intentions.
