A California court has dismissed a sexual harassment and wrongful termination lawsuit filed against Hollywood actor Will Smith by a former staff member.
The lawsuit was filed by Brian King Joseph, a violinist who worked on the actor’s 2025 tour. Joseph alleged that he faced inappropriate treatment and was later sacked after reporting an incident in his hotel room during a stop in Las Vegas.
However, Judge Michael Shultz dismissed the case, finding the claims insufficient. The judge ruled that the evidence did not prove that any conduct was severe enough to be labelled harassment under the law.
“The claims fail to show conduct that is sufficiently severe,” the judge stated in his ruling.
The court also noted that there was no evidence that Joseph was sacked because he complained. It was also revealed during the hearing that the staff member had left his hotel room key in a vehicle that was accessible to several other crew members
