Social media personality and breast cancer patient, AuntieEsther, has died after refusing a blood transfusion advised by her doctors during treatment.
Her death was confirmed by an X user, #AUNTYMUSE_, who was close to her and supported her throughout her medical journey.
Reacting to the news, another X user, swaggsphotos, wrote, “Unfortunately, we lost Aunty Esther. Very sad!” #AUNTYMUSE_ also paid tribute, saying, “May her soul rest in peace.”
AuntieEsther, whose real name was Mensah Omolola, gained national attention after publicly rejecting blood transfusion on religious grounds, as a Jehovah’s Witness.
Despite receiving over ₦30 million in public donations, she chose alternative treatments aimed at increasing her blood count without transfusion.
Her decision sparked widespread debate, with critics questioning the rejection of medical advice while accepting donations. Supporters, however, defended her right to make healthcare choices based on faith.
The fundraising effort, coordinated by charity advocate Wizarab10, raised ₦30.7 million as of December 1, 2025. AuntieEsther had earlier expressed appreciation for the support.
Her death has triggered an outpouring of condolences and renewed discussions on faith, medical ethics, and public philanthropy.
