Former Vice President of Nigeria and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has clarified reports suggesting that he held a private meeting with former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe on Tuesday, Atiku travelled on Monday, February 2, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the lesser hajj.
He was accompanied by associates and family members to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
While waiting at the departure lounge, Atiku had a chance encounter with Senator Yari, during which the two leaders exchanged greetings and pleasantries.
The statement stressed that the interaction was not a formal meeting and did not take place at Atiku’s residence.
“It has, therefore, become necessary to disclaim the false information being circulated in a section of the media that Atiku had a private meeting with Yari at his residence in Abuja,” the statement said.
