The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence that Nigerians will re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. The party described his first term as one of the most impactful in Nigeria’s recent history.
In a statement on Monday, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, defended President Tinubu’s leadership. His response followed recent remarks made by former Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
El-Rufai, speaking in Sokoto on August 2, criticized the administration as “incompetent” and “clannish.” He also suggested it did not deserve a second term.
However, the APC dismissed the comments as false and politically motivated.
According to Morka, El-Rufai and his new allies in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have no solid alternatives to Tinubu’s economic policies.
He pointed out that reforms like fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification were also part of the 2023 campaigns of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
“If they oppose these reforms, why haven’t they proposed restoring subsidies or multiple exchange rates?” the party asked.
“And more importantly, how do they plan to fund the massive budget deficit it would create?”
Tinubu’s Achievements So Far
Morka said that the Renewed Hope Agenda is already delivering results. He highlighted several areas of progress:
Oil production has increased to nearly 1.8 million barrels per day
Electricity generation and transmission have improved
Nigeria has recorded consistent trade surpluses
420 roads and bridges are currently under construction
The NELFUND-backed student loan scheme has launched
The military has acquired 49 advanced aircraft
Inflation is falling, and consumer confidence is rising
He added that Nigeria’s stock market is performing strongly, showing renewed investor trust.
APC: Tinubu Offers Visionary Leadership
“With measurable progress across sectors, it is clear Nigeria is on a new path,” Morka said.
He added that El-Rufai’s remarks sounded like the frustrations of a disappointed politician, not a fair assessment.
“We are confident that Nigerians will stand by President Tinubu in 2027,” the statement concluded.
“His achievements already rank among the best by any president in our history.”
