Award-winning singer Asake drew widespread attention online after meeting Ghanaian President John Mahama in Accra.
The visit came shortly after Asake headlined the AfroFuture Ghana festival at El-Wak Stadium, part of the “December in GH” celebrations.
A video of the meeting shows Asake warmly greeting President Mahama alongside notable guests, including actor John Dumelo and businessman Ibrahima Mahama.
During their conversation, Mahama jokingly referenced an incident at Asake’s concert involving a fan firing a gun, asking, “So he is the one the guy fired the gun for?”
Asake expressed regret and requested leniency, to which Mahama replied, “Don’t worry about it. The law is the law.” The individual involved was arrested for illegal possession and discharge of a firearm at a public event.
The Grammy-nominated artist, who has released three albums, recently relocated to Los Angeles.
