Music icon Innocent Idibia popularly known as 2Baba has allayed fears about Afrobeats’ potential decline on the global stage, expressing confidence in the genre’s continued success.

In a recent interview with Yaw on Wazobia FM, he attributed Afrobeats’ staying power to the country’s young talents.

2Baba praised emerging artists, citing a remake of his song “If Love Is A Crime” by Fola as an example.

He commended the artist’s smooth vocals and unique style, stating that the genre is in safe hands.

According to him, young artists are crucial to Afrobeats’ longevity, saying, “Afrobeats can never die.”

He highlighted their innovative approaches and energy as key to the genre’s sustained global relevance.

2Baba said, “Afrobeats can never die. If you listen to some of the young Afrobeats artists now, you will agree with me that the genre is in safe hands.

“Recently, one of the young artists, Fola, remade my song ‘If Love Is A Crime.’ I really loved it. Soft, smooth vocals. It is amazing. The present crops of artists have special flows. I love their styles.”
