Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has opened up on why she strongly supported comedienne Princess during the rape case involving actor Baba Ijesha.

Speaking on ‘The Goldroom’ podcast, Iyabo revealed that her personal experiences of being molested multiple times in the past made her emotional and furious over the case.

She said it was disappointing to see adults twist the story and attack both Princess and the victim, stressing that entertainers should lead by good example.

“I remember during the rape issue involving my senior colleague and the young girl. I couldn’t control my emotions because I was outraged. I had gone through similar experiences multiple times and I felt enough is enough – we need to speak up for the girl and boy child,” she said.

Iyabo added that she expects her colleagues in the industry to act right because entertainers are like evangelists who should preach good values.

She said, “It hurt me to see people manipulate the story and come for Princess and the child. We still have a long way to go in Nigeria. I always speak out when my fellow entertainers do wrong because we are meant to do right by society. We can’t be preaching good values in movies and doing the opposite in real life.”
