Union Bank Marks World Environment Day with Symposium, Donates Recycling Bins to Schools

Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its leadership in environmental sustainability by organising a symposium and donating recycling bins to secondary schools to mark World Environment Day 2025.

The event, themed “Ending Plastic Pollution,” was held in partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) at the Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos. It brought together corporate leaders, environmental experts, and stakeholders to address the dangers of plastic waste and explore solutions for a cleaner environment.

Union Bank’s Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Olufunmilola Aluko, emphasised the bank’s commitment to sustainability, stating: “At Union Bank, sustainability goes beyond banking. We empower communities with knowledge and resources to tackle plastic pollution and protect our environment.”

As part of its outreach, the bank donated recycling bins to Lagos secondary schools to educate students on environmental preservation. This initiative falls under its UnionCares platform, driving impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects nationwide.

Union Bank continues to champion ethical practices, social responsibility, and sustainable community development across Nigeria.
