Victor Osimhen’s red-hot form in Turkey has sparked speculation that the Super Eagles striker may not be leaving Galatasaray anytime soon, despite growing interest from Europe’s elite clubs.
Galatasaray Vice President Abdullah Kavukcu revealed in a recent interview that the club is hopeful about keeping the prolific Nigerian forward beyond the summer. Osimhen, who is on loan from Napoli, has taken the Turkish Super Lig by storm, netting 28 goals and notching five assists in just 32 appearances.
Surprise Signing That Paid Off
His surprise arrival in Istanbul last September raised eyebrows, with many expecting a blockbuster move to the English Premier League or another top-tier European side. But Galatasaray’s gamble has paid off handsomely.
“Victor’s arrival here was like a dream,” Kavukcu told the Mirror. “He had chances to leave in January but chose to stay. He truly loves Galatasaray. Five of the world’s biggest clubs are following him now, and we expect a decision in April.”
Galatasaray Hopeful of a Longer Stay
While the club hasn’t held direct talks with Osimhen about his future, Kavukcu insists that staying at Galatasaray isn’t out of the question. “People underestimate what Galatasaray offers. If we weren’t a top club, he wouldn’t have joined us in the first place.”
Despite the swirling transfer rumors, the 26-year-old striker remains focused on the present.
“I’m living in the moment,” Osimhen said. “I love the fans, the president, the staff, everyone here. It’s an honor to be at Galatasaray, and I’m enjoying every bit of it.”
Osimhen has been heavily linked with Manchester United, but his reported wage demands, around £9.4 million annually after tax, are said to be a stumbling block for the Red Devils. Reports suggest United may instead pursue a more budget-friendly option like Liam Delap.
European Giants on High Alert
Meanwhile, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and Paris Saint-Germain continue to circle, all eager to land the reigning CAF Player of the Year.
As the summer window approaches, all eyes will be on Osimhen, whether he extends his Turkish adventure or finally makes his long-anticipated leap to the Premier League.
