President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians, especially residents of Plateau State, to prioritize national unity over religious and ethnic divides for the country’s development.
He made the appeal on Saturday while attending the funeral service of Nana Lydia Yilwatda in Jos, the mother of Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of tolerance and mutual respect among Nigerians.
“I was born into Islam, and I continue to follow it. My wife is a pastor, and she constantly prays for me. I have never tried to change her faith because I value freedom of religion. We all answer to the same Almighty God, and our love for one another is what truly matters. Living together in harmony is essential for our nation,” he stated.
In his tribute, Mr Nentawe Yilwatda described his mother as a devoted, loving, and selfless individual who dedicated her life to serving others.
“She was strong, loyal, and humble, always putting the needs of others before her own. Whatever she received, she shared generously with our community. Today, we celebrate her extraordinary life,” he said.
The APC National Chairman expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, governors, National Assembly members, the Plateau State government, and all Nigerians who supported his family during this time of loss.
Nana Lydia Yilwatda, aged 83, will be laid to rest in Dungung, Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State.
