‘They Lied’ – Peter Okoye Dismisses False Claims About His Career
Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has addressed a long-standing misconception about his talent, while responding to a fan’s post on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) celebrating his growth.
The fan had recalled how some people previously dismissed Mr P’s musical abilities, labelling him solely as a dancer. The post praised him for proving critics wrong and evolving into a successful singer.
The fan wrote:
“Person wey them talk say him no sabi sing say na dance him dey dance, na him come sabi sing pass… false narrative.”
In response, Mr P used the opportunity to encourage fans to stay true to their worth and not remain in spaces where they are undervalued.
He wrote:
“But sadly, most people fall for it. In this life, always know your worth. Don’t settle for less, and never stay where you’re not valued or respected. Respect yourself enough to leave any place where your efforts are not appreciated. #TheyLied”
In a separate development, renowned Nigerian rapper MI Abaga has opened up about his experience with delayed marriage and the lessons learned along the way.
Speaking on the Jay On Air podcast, the ‘Bad Belle’ crooner revealed he once felt left behind as many of his friends married in their twenties and were already raising teenagers. However, his perspective shifted when he met his wife shortly before turning 40, following the end of a previous relationship.
MI emphasized that every individual has a unique timeline and that emotional readiness is essential for building a lasting relationship.
