Sterling Bank, one of Nigeria’s top financial institutions, has revealed the first 30 beneficiaries of its ₦2 billion Beyond Education Scholarship Fund. This bold initiative will sponsor 600 talented Nigerian youths with full tuition and connect them to careers in high-impact sectors.

This launch marks a major step in Sterling Bank’s mission to drive inclusive national growth through human capital investment.

A National Growth Initiative

The Beyond Education program, introduced in June 2025, is Sterling Bank’s most ambitious educational project so far. It goes beyond traditional funding by providing recipients with career pathways and tools for socio-economic mobility.

The scholarship covers full tuition at:

Miva Open University – Nigeria’s first licensed online private university.

Hillside University of Science & Technology (HUST) – a STEM-focused institution in Ekiti State.

Unlike typical scholarship schemes, Sterling Bank designed this program to support Nigeria’s critical development agenda. It aligns with the Bank’s HEART Strategy, which focuses on Health, Education, Agriculture, Renewable Energy, and Transportation, ensuring that beneficiaries train for industries that matter most to the nation. “We are closing the gap between education and employability. Our goal is to prepare young Nigerians for the future of work in vital sectors.”

The first 30 awardees emerged from a transparent, community-led voting process open to Sterling Bank account holders. Every nominee was vetted to ensure compliance with admission standards at the partner universities.

List of First Beneficiaries

The inaugural winners are: Abdulahi Afolabi, Damilare Tijani, Abdulwahab Eniafe, Abubakar Isah, Tahir Enesi Ibrahim, Julius Agbene Agbo, Chinedu Kelechi Patrick, Ayomide Ojo, Fyneseed Nwogu, Miracle Woyinmomoemi Daniel, Serene Clinton, Temiloluwa Orekunrin, Udeme Umoh, Victor Esogwa, Rosemary Kosipre, Ali Mohammed, Usman Isiaka Ololade, Kayode Aikulola, Saviour Philip, Ademola Afolabi, Emmanuel Enekwa, Bashir Sani Ibrahim, Ezekiel Adeseye, Deborah Umeaku, Abba Kaka Lawan, Haisam Sunusi Mahmuda, John Gumuan, Afan Ajiji, Bajepade Kehinde, and Chioma Igwe.

A Scalable Model for Impact

While the program covers tuition, students handle additional expenses such as internet access, books, and living costs. This design makes the initiative sustainable and capable of reaching more beneficiaries.

Nominations for the next group will resume in September 2025, but voting remains active. Verified nominees should continue mobilizing community support as the next set will be announced in the coming weeks.

With 570 scholarships still open, Sterling Bank is reinforcing its pledge to expand quality education and build a future-ready Nigerian workforce.
