The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dared leaders of the opposition coalition to present their scorecards to Nigerians.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Friday, Wike accused them of deceiving Nigerians despite having held top positions without tangible impact.
The coalition, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 election.
Other members of the coalition include former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi; former Senate President, David Mark; and ex-Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Reacting to comments by ex-ADC chairman, Ralph Nwosu, who said the coalition’s formation started 18 months ago, Wike questioned their motives.
He said, “If the coalition started 18 months ago, that means just six months after President Tinubu assumed office, they began planning to unseat him.”
Wike added, “Somebody was senate president for eight years, another was speaker for four years, another was minister for eight years, yet they didn’t make angry Nigerians happy.
“Now someone has spent only six months in office and you’re saying Nigerians are angry. What kind of people are you?
“Everyone should show their scorecard. God gave you a chance to make Nigerians happy, but you refused. Now you’re angry because you’re out of power and want to come back. You will not come back.”
