Chief Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation magazine, has accused First Lady Oluremi Tinubu of insulting Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun state, during a public event captured in a viral video.
A viral video had gone viral on social media showing Mrs Tinubu harrasing the Osun state governor at an event in Ile-Ife.
According to Momodu, the conduct was “beneath” the office of the first lady and amounted to bullying an elected governor in public.
Momodu also recalled his encounter with Mrs Tinubu at the funeral of Kemi Nelson in Lagos, where he said she confronted him over his political stance.
“She said, ‘Bob Dee, you mean you won’t campaign for my husband?’ and I replied, ‘I can’t Ma, I’m in a different party!’,” he said.
He questioned how a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God would object to a governor praising God publicly.
He also asked whether the same response would have been directed at a northern governor reciting the Qur’an.
Momodu said he did not blame the first lady alone, arguing that Nigerians had allowed political intolerance to thrive.
He described Adeleke as a gentleman and said he exercised restraint.
