The Kaduna State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has once again dissociated itself from former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
This was made known by the North West Zonal Secretary of the party, Alhaji Idris Inuwa, during a press conference held in Kaduna on Friday.
Inuwa stated that “it has become public knowledge that, penultimate week, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, alongside a group of meddlesome politicians in Kaduna State, attended a gathering where he brazenly and falsely claimed to represent the Social Democratic Party (SDP), assuming a leadership role he neither holds nor deserves.”
He emphasised that the party categorically denounces the actions of El-Rufai and his associates, who have continued to fraudulently parade themselves as SDP representatives in Kaduna State.
“These individuals, whose names have appeared at several public and private events, are not recognised members of the SDP. None of them holds any official position or mandate to speak or act on behalf of the party in Kaduna State,” he said.
The party further expressed concern that El-Rufai has taken it upon himself to attend various forums, including policy dialogues, stakeholder engagements, and private strategy meetings, falsely claiming to speak for the SDP.
“To set the record straight, Mallam El-Rufai is not authorised, mandated, or recognised by the SDP in any capacity to represent its interests or articulate its positions,” Inuwa declared.
He added that El-Rufai’s actions were carried out without the knowledge, consent, or approval of the party’s national leadership, including Acting National Chairman, Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe, and National Secretary, Chief (Dr.) Olu Agunloye.
The party urged stakeholders, partners, and the general public to disregard any claims made by El-Rufai in the name of the SDP, stating that only duly authorised representatives can speak for the party.
Inuwa concluded that El-Rufai has never been a registered or accredited member of the SDP, nor has he participated in its official programmes, strategy meetings, or decision-making processes.
“At no point has our party issued him any letter of appointment, nomination, or delegation to serve in any capacity, formal or informal. Therefore, all statements, representations, and commitments made by him in the name of the SDP are null and void,” he affirmed.
