Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended his condolences to Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, the government, and people of Niger State following the tragic tanker explosion that claimed at least 35 lives and left 17 others injured.
The incident, which occurred along the Bida–Agaie highway, involved a petrol-laden tanker that exploded, resulting in significant loss of life and property.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu described the tragedy as “worrisome and deeply painful.”
“It is with a heavy heart that I followed the reports of the devastating explosion along the Bida–Agaie highway, which claimed about 35 lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with my brother, Governor Mohammed Bago, the government, and people of Niger State, as well as the families affected,” the Lagos governor said.
Sanwo-Olu, who also chairs the South-West Governors’ Forum, prayed for the repose of the deceased and strength for their families to endure the painful loss. He also wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
