The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State has pledged to follow any political direction given by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 elections.

The party’s chairman in the area, Rejoice Otobo, made this known during Wike’s “thank you” visit on Sunday. He said the people remained firmly behind Wike in appreciation of his contributions to the area.

“We are waiting for your directives on the 2027 elections in Rivers State. Wherever you ask us to go, we will go, and whatever you ask us to do, we will do,” Otobo said.

He added that residents of the local government area had resolved to align with Wike’s political decisions.

Similarly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in Ahoada West, Ikechukwu Obuzor, pledged unwavering loyalty to Wike, describing him as a source of hope for the people.

“Wherever you go, we will go with you. Be assured that in 2027, Ahoada West will deliver the required results,” Obuzor said.

Earlier, the chairman of Ahoada Local Government Council, Chita Eugene, described Wike as the political field marshal of the South-South. He commended him for attracting significant development to Rivers State, saying the visit symbolised effective leadership and public service.

The member representing Ahoada West/Ogba-Egbema/Ndoni Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Victor Obuzor, also called for support for Wike, citing his achievements in the area and his record as a former governor.

In the same vein, the Seyi Tinubu Support Group, led by Chidi Amadi, pledged support for Wike and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Responding, Wike said the visit was to appreciate the people for their support for him and President Tinubu during the 2023 elections. He noted that Rivers State once enjoyed national respect for good governance before what he described as a decline caused by poor leadership.

Wike reiterated that Governor Siminalayi Fubara should not seek a second term, stressing the need to restore the state’s political standing in 2027.

“We must correct the leadership mistake in Rivers State in 2027,” he said. “We need a leader we can trust to return the state to progress and glory.”
