President Bola Tinubu has officially concluded his work vacation and is scheduled to return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, to resume his official duties.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday. According to Onanuga, the President departed Nigeria on September 4, 2025, for France as part of his annual holiday, with plans to divide his time between France and the United Kingdom. However, he has now ended the vacation ahead of schedule to return to his responsibilities in the nation’s capital.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has concluded his work vacation ahead of schedule and will return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, to resume his official duties,” Onanuga said in the statement.
During his stay in Paris last week, President Tinubu held a private luncheon with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation in trade, security, and global diplomacy. Both leaders expressed a commitment to deepening partnerships that promote mutual prosperity, stability, and sustainable development on the international stage.
The President’s early return underscores his dedication to governance and responsiveness to national matters. Observers note that such engagements abroad, combined with timely resumption of duties at home, reflect a balance between international diplomacy and domestic leadership priorities.
President Tinubu’s visit to France also highlighted Nigeria’s growing role in global affairs, particularly in Europe, and reinforced ongoing efforts to expand strategic partnerships. The discussions with President Macron are expected to influence future collaborations in areas such as economic development, investment, and multilateral cooperation.
As he returns to Abuja, President Tinubu is anticipated to immediately engage in national programs and policy matters, signaling a renewed focus on governance and public service following his brief work vacation.
