LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – July 25, 2025 — Ayoola Lawal, former Secretary of the APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen and a prominent voice in Nigerian diaspora leadership, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Philip Idaewor, former Chairman of the same committee, on the recent call to the English Bar of his son, Barrister Oshotse Idaewor.
In a message released yesterday, Lawal described the milestone as “a testament not only to academic excellence, but to divine favour, relentless discipline, and the enduring strength of Nigerian families in the diaspora.”
“This journey,” Lawal said, “has only been possible by the hand of God. I celebrate with my dear brother Dr. Philip Idaewor and his family, as they witness the fruit of years of sacrifice, vision, and unshakable faith in their son’s potential.”
Barrister Oshotse Idaewor was officially called to the Bar of England and Wales on 24 July 2025, as a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. His stellar academic journey spans multiple world-class institutions and includes:
• LL.B (First Class Honours) – SOAS, University of London
• LL.M (Asian Economic Integration and Law) – Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan
• LL.M (Legal Practice – Distinction) – University of Law, UK
Oshotse also served in numerous leadership roles and won multiple national and international prizes, including the Dean’s Award for Excellence, the RSAA Essay Prize, and first place in the Lawyers Without Borders Rule of Law Innovation Challenge.
Beyond law, he is a decorated debater, athlete, poet, and musician—having performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Westminster Abbey, and various City of London guilds.
Dr. Philip Idaewor, himself a veteran of diaspora political mobilisation and a respected public intellectual, expressed joy and gratitude, calling the event “one of the proudest moments of my life.”
Lawal closed his message with a word for young Nigerians everywhere:
“This is what belief, preparation, and grace can produce. May Oshotse’s journey inspire a generation of African youths to rise with courage, integrity, and global relevance.”
