Ose Anenih, son of the late Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Chief Tony Anenih, has formally resigned from the party. His decision not only ends a long political affiliation but also signals a significant development for Edo politics.

Letter of Resignation to Edo PDP Ward Chairman

In a letter dated August 18, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Arue Ward 3 in Uromi, Edo State, Anenih explained his reasons. According to him, the decision followed deep personal reflection. Moreover, he emphasized that his priority now lies in focusing on his family and other pressing responsibilities.

“This decision was not made lightly,” he wrote. “From the beginning, I stood with the PDP through triumphs and trials, guided by faith in Nigerian democracy and the ideals that drew me to the Umbrella.”

Anenih stressed that his resignation takes immediate effect. Furthermore, he described the move as a carefully considered choice, acknowledging the profound role PDP played in shaping his political path. In addition, he expressed gratitude for the friendships and opportunities the platform had offered him over the years.

“At this point in my life, I must step back from partisan politics,” he said. “My duty now lies with my family and other responsibilities that demand full attention.”

Although leaving the PDP, Anenih maintained that his commitment to Nigeria’s development remains unshaken. Therefore, he pledged to remain active in civic and intellectual engagements that promote good governance and improve citizens’ welfare.

“I will continue to contribute to civic and policy discussions that strengthen governance and, above all, enhance the lives of Nigerians,” he added.

Appreciation to PDP Leadership and Members

Meanwhile, Anenih conveyed appreciation to PDP leaders and members for their years of support. He wished the party success in its future endeavors. Consequently, he reaffirmed hope for a Nigeria that achieves its democratic and developmental potential.

Political Implications in Edo State

Notably, his departure comes at a crucial time as the PDP prepares for upcoming elections in Edo State. Therefore, analysts believe Anenih’s resignation may fuel debates about the party’s unity, strategy, and long-term direction.
