A resurfaced video of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), praising former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has sparked fresh debate on social media.
The video, shared by Serah Ibrahim, a staunch supporter of Obi, shows Wike — then serving as Rivers State governor — commending Obi’s performance while speaking at an event in Anambra.
In the footage, Wike lauded Obi’s leadership, describing him as an “outstanding governor everyone must learn from.” He also noted that former President Muhammadu Buhari had expressed satisfaction with Obi’s developmental strides in Anambra.
“The people of this state are lucky to have Peter Obi as their governor,” Wike said at the time. “He is exceptional, and a model for other governors.”
Ibrahim reposted the clip on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, shortly after Wike’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, dismissed Obi’s recent remarks that he could transform Nigeria’s economy within four years.
In a pointed response directed at Olayinka, Ibrahim reminded him of Wike’s past admiration for Obi’s record as governor.
She wrote:
“Your boss attended several of Peter Obi’s project inaugurations and openly praised his work in Anambra. Those videos still exist. Before trying to rewrite history, ask your boss what he saw that made him call Obi an outstanding governor.”
The resurfaced video has reignited discussions on social media about leadership, integrity, and political consistency among Nigeria’s top politicians.
