FilmOne Entertainment recorded a strong box office debut with Warlord: Olori Ogun, which earned ₦47 million in its opening weekend, underscoring growing audience appetite for culturally rooted Nigerian stories.
The film, produced by Odunlade Adekola Film Production (OAFP) in partnership with FilmOne Studios, premiered on Wednesday, November 26, and was released nationwide on Friday, November 28. It is directed by Odunlade Adekola alongside Tope Adebayo and Abiodun Olanrewaju.
Set within the heart of Yoruba culture, Warlord: Olori Ogun explores themes of bravery, legacy, identity, and community. The story follows a fearless warrior navigating family conflicts while defending his people and preserving his heritage. Blending history, drama, and cultural symbolism, the film delivers a narrative deeply rooted in Nigerian tradition.
The premiere attracted a wide array of Nollywood stars and industry stakeholders, including Toyin Abraham, Muyiwa Ademola, Femi Adebayo, Iyabo Ojo, Mike Ezuruonye, Itele D Icon, Kie Kie, and Bisola Aiyeola. Guests graced the red carpet in striking traditional attire, highlighting the cultural essence of the film.
Speaking at the event, producer and lead actor Odunlade Adekola described the project as a passion-driven effort. “Audiences should expect something powerful and exceptional. Warlord: Olori Ogun is a strong story, and I am proud of what we created,” he said.
The film features notable performances from Odunlade Adekola, Toyin Abraham, Muyiwa Ademola, Femi Adebayo Salami, Ibrahim Chatta, and others, drawing praise for its authentic storytelling and compelling character portrayals.
FilmOne Entertainment said the successful opening aligns with its broader strategy to support indigenous narratives and expand the reach of African stories in cinemas nationwide.
