The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that it is taking decisive steps to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from its ranks.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, disclosed that a committee has been set up to review allegations of anti-party activities against the former Rivers State governor.

Abdullahi stated that many members now believe the PDP would function better without Wike. He stressed that the party would not hesitate to remove anyone hindering its progress.

“If Wike is not going to be an asset to the PDP, he can bid us farewell and stand wherever he wishes,” Abdullahi said during an interview on Arise News.

He added, “The last time I checked, he was still a member of the PDP; he has not publicly renounced his membership. However, many have observed that his presence comes with disadvantages and perhaps the party would be better off without him.

“Those working against the interests of the PDP are not really part of us. Anyone who clogs the party’s progress is better off out so we can unite to restore democratic hope to Nigeria.

“Certainly, Wike does not hold the power to bring the PDP to shame. We have established a committee to address the actions of dissenting voices engaging in anti-party activities. From the petitions we have received, Wike is among them.

“Once the committee concludes its review, nothing will stop us from implementing its decisions. We will expel them if necessary.”

Meanwhile, earlier this week, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a two-time PDP presidential candidate, announced his resignation from the party.
