Africa’s leading youth and music platform, MTV Base, is bringing its signature party vibe to Calabar with Base Day Calabar, an electrifying outdoor music rave scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2025, at Hogis Royale Car Park, State Housing Estate.
The event, which kicks off at 2 PM, promises thrilling DJ sets, live performances, dance showcases, and all the energy that MTV Base is known for. It will be hosted by reality TV star Neo Akpofure, with performances from some of Calabar’s hottest rising stars, including Omizzy, Harcher, and Czn Baby.
This year’s Base Day marks a special milestone as MTV Base celebrates 20 years of amplifying African music, culture, and talent. The Calabar edition is the second stop in a three-part cultural takeover that started in Lagos and will wrap up in Abuja. The aim is to bring the MTV Base experience directly to fans, allowing them to “Live the Culture.”
Speaking on the significance of this year’s event, Busola Komolafe, Senior Channels Manager at Paramount Africa, said:
“Base Day isn’t just another music event; it has become a movement. This edition is particularly important as we honour two decades of connecting with Africa’s vibrant youth community. From Lagos to Calabar and Abuja, we are bringing the party to the streets to celebrate the spirit of our audience who have grown with us.”
Since its debut in 2005, MTV Base has championed youth voices across the continent, launched award-winning music videos, and propelled local artists onto global stages, shaping Africa’s music, fashion, dance, and identity.
Young people in Calabar and beyond are invited to come out, vibe, and live the culture. For updates, exclusive content, and artist announcements, follow @mtvbasewest on Instagram, X, and TikTok.
