Nigerian music star Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has opened up about his year-long hiatus from the music industry.
In a recent post on X, the singer explained that he intentionally took time off to rest and recharge after years of continuous work. He wrote:
“I’ve been on holiday all year. I started feeling guilty but then I realised I’ve been working since I was 15!! Rest is a blessing! Choplife season!”
This revelation offers a rare insight into the mindset of one of Afrobeats’ most dynamic artists. Beyond touring globally and releasing chart-topping singles, Mr Eazi has redefined African music entrepreneurship through his emPawa Africa platform, which mentors and funds emerging talents across the continent.
His break follows the release of his long-awaited debut solo album, The Evil Genius, in 2023 – a genre-defying project that combined music with curated African art and deeply personal storytelling.
The album earned critical acclaim for its originality, expanding the boundaries of modern African music.
Mr Eazi, who is married to actress and fashion entrepreneur Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire mogul Femi Otedola, continues to balance his personal life with various business ventures and philanthropic pursuits.
