Veteran rapper, MI Abaga, has expressed deep regret over supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), admitting that the party has not met the expectations of Nigerians.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Menism podcast, the award-winning rapper, born Jude Abaga, revealed he backed the APC in 2015 because he believed the then-ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was corrupt.

The ‘Bad Belle’ hitmaker noted that despite his hopes for change, the APC has failed to deliver on its promises. He emphasised that he now channels his influence towards collaborating with Nigerian youths to build a better country.

He said,

“I tweeted about the herdsmen attacks in Benue and people reminded me, ‘But M.I, you supported APC.’

Yes, I supported them because at that time, I felt PDP was very corrupt. I was part of those who raised their voices to say, ‘Let us stand up and bring in democracy.’

But as humans, no matter how hard you try to be right, sometimes you will be wrong. Sadly, APC isn’t the party of my dreams.”

In a related development, veteran Nollywood actor Lalude also voiced his disappointment over campaigning for President Bola Tinubu. In a viral video, he lamented that he and his colleagues were paid only ₦10,000 daily for feeding while canvassing for votes during the 2023 election. He decried that after two years in office, they had received no further appreciation or reward for their efforts.
