Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election as proof of Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive governance and people-driven leadership.
He made the remark while addressing journalists after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced results for Chikun/Kajuru, Zaria Kewaye, and Basawa State Assembly constituencies.
Maiyaki explained that the outcome reflects the confidence Kaduna communities now place in Governor Uba Sani and the ruling APC. He noted that the win was both historic and symbolic. It broke a long-standing trend in a constituency that had consistently resisted APC’s influence.
According to him, the victory demonstrates how inclusive governance and grassroots-focused policies are reshaping Kaduna’s political direction.
INEC Official Results
INEC declared that the APC secured 34,580 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), once considered the dominant force in Chikun and Kajuru, received 11,491 votes. Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded 3,477 votes, while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) trailed with only 142 votes.
The commissioner said the landslide victory is linked to Governor Uba Sani’s grassroots-focused leadership. His administration has delivered results through new road projects, improved healthcare services, education reforms, and stronger security interventions. These policies, therefore, resonated strongly with voters and paved the way for APC’s dominance in areas once controlled by the opposition.
He added that the people of Chikun, Kajuru, Zaria Kewaye, and Basawa constituencies have spoken clearly. They chose progressive leadership instead of recycled promises.
APC’s Growing Strength Ahead of 2027
With APC’s 34,580 votes in Chikun and Kajuru standing far above the opposition’s combined tally, Maiyaki stressed that the ruling party has not only broken new ground but also consolidated its dominance in Kaduna State.
As a result, the momentum from this landmark victory places the APC on a stronger footing ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Kaduna people have reaffirmed their trust in inclusive governance. Governor Uba Sani’s people-centered leadership is uniting communities and strengthening confidence in the ruling party,” Maiyaki concluded.
