Governor Umar Namadi has said Jigawa State is on a decisive path toward transformative development. He highlighted achievements in agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment as key pillars of his administration’s “Greater Jigawa” agenda.
Agricultural Transformation Takes Centre Stage
During a statewide broadcast marking Jigawa State’s 34th anniversary, Governor Namadi emphasized progress across all sectors, especially agriculture.
“Our Agricultural Transformation Agenda is gradually unlocking decades of untapped potential,” he said. “Just yesterday, I signed into law the establishment of the Jigawa Agricultural Transformation Agency. This agency will drive the modernization of our agricultural sector.”
He also announced a dedicated Ministry for Livestock Development through an Executive Order. “This ministry is a critical part of our Agricultural Transformation Agenda. It ensures that livestock, a vital sector, receives the attention it deserves,” he explained.
Infrastructure Development Accelerates
Governor Namadi highlighted the completion of 26 inherited road projects spanning over 300 kilometres. Additionally, his administration has launched 45 new road projects covering more than 800 kilometres within two years.
“The progress we have achieved in delivering essential infrastructure is unprecedented,” he said.
Youth Empowerment and Inclusive Growth
The governor pointed to massive investments in youth programs. Over 60 employment and empowerment initiatives have benefited more than 300,000 youths and women.
“Our focus remains on producing tangible results. At the core of our efforts is inclusive, human-centered economic growth,” he said.
He also acknowledged ongoing challenges in education, industrialization, and youth engagement. “Despite significant progress, issues like out-of-school children and underutilized youth demand innovative solutions and continued commitment,” Governor Namadi noted.
He reaffirmed dedication to his administration’s 12-Point Agenda, describing it as “a compact between the government and the people,” and called on citizens to take collective responsibility. “Everyone is a vital stakeholder in Jigawa State’s development,” he added.
Created on August 27, 1991, Jigawa has transformed from a state facing developmental deficits into one recognized for governance transparency, road infrastructure, and agricultural productivity. Sustaining these achievements while tackling remaining challenges remains a top priority for the government.
