The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced Saturday, June 28, as the date for the 2025 UTME mop-up examination.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, disclosed that the mop-up exam will cater to 5,096 spill-over candidates and others who missed the main exercise due to biometric issues.
Benjamin explained that the date was fixed following a special dispensation granted to candidates absent during the main and rescheduled UTME sessions.
The first session of the exam will commence at 8:00 a.m., and candidates are advised to arrive at least one hour before the start time.
Eligible candidates are expected to begin printing their examination notification slips from Monday in preparation for the mop-up.
According to Benjamin, a total of 96,838 candidates will take part in the exercise across 183 centres nationwide, including 91,742 who missed either or both of the earlier exams. He noted that some candidates will be placed on standby.
Meanwhile, JAMB has delisted or suspended 113 CBT centres found guilty of sharp practices uncovered during ongoing investigations. Many of the affected centres were implicated in identity theft and exam malpractice schemes.
Benjamin praised the efforts of security agencies—especially the DSS, Police, and NSCDC—for their collaboration in uncovering these fraudulent activities, which led to the arrest and prosecution of several individuals, including a few JAMB staff, professional exam takers, school proprietors, and tutorial centre operators.
He also revealed that certain exam towns involved in malpractices have been barred from hosting the mop-up, and affected candidates will be reassigned to nearby locations.
“We seek the understanding of candidates who fall into these deactivated towns,” Benjamin added.
