The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has referred the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) petition against Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as K1 De Ultimate (Kwam 1), to the Police Command at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi said on Tuesday that the petition followed Kwam 1’s attempt to block a moving ValueJet aircraft on August 5, 2025, at the Abuja airport. The action drew sharp public criticism and renewed calls for his prosecution.

NCAA Pushes for Criminal Prosecution

The NCAA quickly wrote to the IGP and the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi. It urged authorities to open a full criminal investigation and start legal proceedings against the singer.

To reinforce its stance, the agency announced an indefinite flight ban on Kwam 1. It also warned that any airline — local or international — flying him could lose its operating license.

Aviation Minister Issues Strong Warning

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo condemned the singer’s conduct in strong terms. He stressed that blocking a moving aircraft threatened passenger safety and violated aviation safety regulations. According to him, such behaviour is both reckless and unacceptable.

Public Reaction Sparks Selective Justice Debate

Kwam 1 released a public apology video over the weekend. However, the controversy intensified when authorities remanded Ibom Air passenger Comfort Emmanson in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for a separate unruly conduct case. This fueled public debate over selective justice, with many demanding equal treatment for Kwam 1.

Police Promise Swift and Fair Action

Police officials have pledged a thorough investigation. They assured Nigerians that the case will be handled according to the law and that justice will not be compromised.

This incident continues to stir national conversation. Many aviation safety advocates insist that enforcing laws equally is vital for public trust and the integrity of the justice system.
