Nollywood star Funke Akindele has been trending across social media—this time not for an award or red-carpet moment, but for appearing with an exaggerated figure that sparked widespread speculation about a possible cosmetic enhancement.
Several viral videos showed the filmmaker sporting noticeably larger hips and a fuller backside, leaving fans debating whether she had undergone surgery. One Instagram clip captured her confidently displaying the new silhouette, prompting even more reactions.
However, the transformation is simply part of a role.
Akindele is promoting her upcoming film Behind The Scenes, where she plays Adetutu Fernandez, a character she describes as having “the body of a goddess.” In the video, dressed in a simple but stylish outfit, she fully embraces the persona.
“Hello, beautiful people. My name is Adetutu Fernandez. Do you love my body? I will spend anything to be beautiful. I spent a fortune to get my body done,” she said in character.
The actress has continued to play along with the joke, using the buzz to build anticipation for the movie. “Detutu Fernandez sure got the body of a goddess. Clock it if you’re loving her body,” she teased in another post.
Akindele also unveiled the film’s star-studded cast through a themed runway clip, featuring Scarlet Gomez, Wandi and Handi, Uche Montana, Tobi Bakare, Ini Dima-Okojie, Mr Macaroni, Uzor Arukwe, Ibrahim Chatta and Iyabo Ojo.
