Fresh Crisis as PDP Declares APC’s Days in Power Are Numbered

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to begin preparing his handover notes. The opposition party maintained that Nigerians will not renew his mandate in 2027.

Speaking at the PDP state secretariat in Yola on Friday, Hamza Madagali, Organising Secretary of the Adamawa chapter, said citizens have lost confidence in the current administration. He noted that hardship, rising insecurity, and poor economic policies have weakened public trust in the APC-led government.

PDP Accuses APC of Poor Leadership

Madagali described the ruling party as visionless and directionless. According to him, the APC has failed to deliver on its promises and instead introduced policies that hurt ordinary Nigerians.

He stressed that Nigerians are ready to end the APC’s rule in 2027. Pointing to the PDP’s successful ward congresses in Adamawa, he said the exercise proved that the party is regaining unity and could transform that momentum into victory at the polls.

The PDP chieftain further argued that the composition of the National Convention committees shows the opposition is stronger than before. He insisted that Nigerians now understand the difference between genuine leadership and deception. “The only way forward is to return the PDP to power for the sake of our children’s future,” he declared.

APC Dismisses PDP’s Chances

In a swift reaction, APC chieftain Seye Oladejo rejected PDP’s claims. He argued that Tinubu remains firmly in control and will secure another term in 2027. According to him, the defection of key opposition members to the ruling party shows that the PDP is already losing ground.

Oladejo said Tinubu should indeed prepare a handover, but only to himself after winning re-election. He dismissed the PDP as a party that “exists on paper” and lacks serious direction.

The APC stalwart accused the PDP of inconsistency, especially in its zoning arrangements. He recalled how the opposition first zoned its presidential ticket, only to later reverse the decision.

Oladejo described such flip-flops as proof of a weak and divided organisation. “It is not a party to take seriously. Talk is cheap. The 2027 elections will be the final days of the PDP,” he concluded.
