Recent reports linking the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, to a fraud case involving Woobs Resources have been debunked by official documents and a clarification from the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation.
On June 25, Sahara Reporters published claims suggesting that Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe was named in a legal case concerning fraudulent activities on a Woobs Resources account held at Fidelity Bank. However, documents obtained by this reporter show otherwise.
A charge sheet dated May 12, 2025, clearly lists the defendants as Victor Ukutt, Esq., Fidelity Bank Plc, Whoba Ugwunna Ogo, and Safiya Whoba. There is no mention of Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe as a party to the case, either directly or indirectly.
Further clarifying the matter, the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice issued a statement on June 9, 2025, confirming that Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe’s name was removed from the charge. The statement explained that she was neither the account officer nor the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank at the time the account in question was opened or operated.
This clarification aims to set the record straight and prevent the spread of misinformation regarding Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe’s professional reputation and the integrity of Fidelity Bank’s leadership.
